• UNESCO Creative Cities Network

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), established in 2004, is a global initiative that fosters collaboration between cities committed to placing creativity and culture at the heart of sustainable urban development. The network promotes international cooperation and knowledge exchange among cities that recognize creative industries—such as crafts, design, music, gastronomy, literature, media arts, and film—as key drivers of economic growth, social inclusion, and cultural vitality.

  • The Creative City of Kütahya

Since 2017, Kütahya has been a proud member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, recognized for its rich tradition of crafts and folk art. Through this designation, the city promotes its deep-rooted ceramic and handicraft heritage while actively supporting knowledge sharing, creative innovation, and sustainable cultural development at both local and international levels.

Kütahya’s Commitment to Cultural Vitality

Long before the city’s official joining of the UCCN, Kütahya has consistently shown its commitment to cultural sustainability, creativity, and international cooperation. Currently central to this effort is the Kütahya Innovation Design Hub (KİDH), which connects traditional craftsmanship with design innovation, supporting capacity building, regional and global collaborations, and the long-term vitality of living heritage. Together these initiatives are providing a cohesive framework for a creative ecosystem not merely aiming to survive, but to thrive.
