Germiyan Street Comes Alive with “Local Flavors and Handicrafts” Festival
22 January 2026
KÜTAHYA – November, 2025 — The historic heart of the city, Germiyan Street, hosted this year’s Kütahya Yöresel Lezzetler ve El Sanatları (“Local Flavors and Handicrafts”) festival, every weekend between May and October 2025. Organized by Kütahya Municipality, the event transformed the street into a lively marketplace featuring traditional çini, textiles, silverwork, pottery, handmade crafts, and regional foods.
Concerts, folk-dance shows, children’s activities, and outdoor performances added to the festive atmosphere, providing artisans and small producers with a valuable platform to showcase their work. Reflecting on the event’s success, a municipal representative noted:
“Germiyan Street is one of Kütahya’s cultural gateways. Bringing our artisans and local flavors here keeps our heritage visible and vibrant.”
Officials emphasized that the festival not only supported local craft production but also strengthened cultural tourism in one of the city’s most historically significant districts. As Germiyan Street continues to host major cultural programs, its role as a living heritage corridor remains central to Kütahya’s creative identity.
