Hands-On Heritage: Welcoming Children at Kütahya’s Experience Mansion

KÜTAHYA – April, 2025 — The city’s UNESCO Craft and Folk Arts Experience Mansion hosted a lively series of workshops as part of the 2025 European Artistic Craft Days (EACD), bringing dozens of children into direct contact with Kütahya’s renowned craft traditions. Under the theme “Golden Thread,” young participants tried their hand at wheel-throwing, ceramic painting, felt work, and other folk-art techniques guided by local artisans.

The Experience Mansion—restored and opened with significant support from the Zafer Development Agency’s (ZEKA) Tourism Infrastructure Development Program in 2023—has become a key hub for hands-on cultural learning. ZEKA’s investment transformed the historic building into an active space where traditional crafts are practiced, taught, and experienced year-round.

This year’s EACD activities held at the Craft and Folk Arts Experience Mansion highlighted the venue’s central mission: connecting new generations with Kütahya’s artisanal heritage through interactive, experiential programming. Organizers noted that the strong turnout reflects growing local interest in keeping the city’s craft traditions vibrant and accessible.
